Sanibel Island is blessed with a near-perfect climate - light
breezes and mild weather are the weather pattern nearly every day. Nearly any
water-oriented sport is available, or beachcomb and collect sea shells.
Beachcombing and
Shelling can be as formal or as informal as you like. Local shells take a great
variety, and it's hard to get much more relaxed than beachcombing at your back door. The
beaches here are fine clean sand, but bring your flip-flops - the top of the sand can be Hot.

The gulf waters surrounding Sanibel are warm and
protected, with a shallow sandy bottom. No need for scuba-diving lessons here - there's no
need for all that equipment. Swimming and snorkeling
are the preferred ways to get to know the saltwater species that abound in our local
waters. If you wish, you can also arrange to dive in Florida's crystal-clear freshwater
springs.
